An Interview with Ali
How did you get to be a hypnotherapist?
Truthfully – it is a long term fascination with the power words have to change a person’s state of consciousness, effect great change and evoke emotions, actions and thoughts in another person. I began my training with the intention to find out more and became hooked on the great work that can be done with hypnotherapy.
Since then I have really enjoyed successfully helping clients with a broad spectrum of issues including stress, wedding nerves, anxiety, stopping smoking, bad habits, fears, phobias, anger management, sports performance…gosh, and lots more besides.
What type of Clients do you see?
You’ll come to me if you’re looking to make a change in your life but something is stopping you.
It could be that you want to be a more confident public speaker but you’re crippled by nerves, or you might want to stop smoking but find yourself losing your temper after a couple of days, perhaps you want to get to the next level in your favourite sport, or perhaps you want to fit into that gorgeous dress you’ve seen but find yourself standing at the door of the fridge picking at the contents.
My job is to help you, through hypnotherapy, make the change.
What happens if I’ve never used hypnotherapy before?
Then you’re in for a really great time! Hypnotherapy is relaxing, can be fun, enlightening and empowering. Imagine understanding how your mind works and even better – how to make it work for you. If you can do that, there is nothing that can get in the way of you living your best and most enjoyable life.
How are you different from other hypnotherapists?
Every hypnotherapist is different and the important thing is to find one that you trust, believe is committed to you, has trained well and continues to practice ethically and professionally.
Before we work together you can book a free appointment, which will help you figure out if I’m the one who is going to help you with your current issue.
What type of person do you work best with and what is expected of me?
We will work brilliantly together if you are ready to make a change in yourself or your life, really know you want to make it, but are having trouble working out how to do it or sticking to the decision successfully. You will want to commit to and trust the process and carry out any activities between appointments (which might be as simple as practicing a breathing exercise).
Does hypnotherapy really work?
Definitely! Hypnotherapy has a well- documented and proven track record of helping many psychological and physical issues. The NHS recommends hypnotherapy, as do many doctors, nurses, counsellors and many other complementary therapists and professionals.
What results can I expect?
I’ve helped almost all my clients achieve complete success. Of the remaining few I’ve been able to support them to at least a partial resolution or in a very few cases we have agreed that hypnotherapy is not the right therapy and I have referred them onto a practitioner in a different field.
How quickly can I expect results?
All treatment plans are unique, because you are unique and the way in which you ‘do’ your issue or goal you would like to achieve is unique too. Most issues you would like to address can be resolved or achieved within 3-5 sessions and some, such as Stop Smoking Therapy, only require 1 session.
How will we work together and what will it entail?
It’s simple – we discuss what you would like to achieve from our work together and how I can help you achieve it. Hypnotherapy itself is an incredibly relaxing process that will often leave you feeling revitalised and rested as part of the session benefits.
The processing will continue following your session which means you may experience interesting dreams, answers to your issues or desires popping into your mind and a gradual improvement of the issue itself. Some methods of treatment are more dynamic than others, so you may also experience significant breakthroughs during a particular session.
What if I ‘slide back’ into my old habits, thoughts or behaviours?
Hypnotherapy works with your subconscious mind and the subconscious mind controls both our bodies and minds. This means you have a significantly higher chance of success using hypnotherapy than with many other therapies, willpower or even drug therapies. However, in some cases the changes might be incomplete or do not have a lasting effect.
This might be because perhaps you are not yet ready to make the change (in which case we can address what that resistance is about). If I think you are likely to have any difficulties making a change, for any reason, I will discuss it with you at your initial appointment. You can then decide how you would like to proceed.
What’s it like working with you?
I hope you will find our sessions enlightening and valuable. My outcome is always to finish with you feeling positive and looking forward to living the life you want. I work in a light hearted, but respectful way.
I am a client centred hypnotherapist working in a humanistic way, which means that I believe you are the expert on you. My role is to act as facilitator to you resolving your issues. This does not mean I sit there silently waiting for you to come up with ideas! We work together, enabling you to resolve your issue and go forward with confidence.
Do you have qualifications, professional membership and insurance?
I gained my original diploma in clinical hypnotherapy with counselling skills in 2011. I have also gained the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), a nationally recognised and independently assessed diploma in 2012. I have continued to develop my hypnotherapy practice by gaining a diploma in solution focused hypnotherapy and an NLP certification with Rintu Basu of The NLP company.
I continue my professional development with regular supervision and short courses in the technical skills hypnotherapy and psychotherapy together with development for the practice.
My membership with The National Council of Hypnotherapy requires me to keep up to date with both training and supervision and to abide by their codes and ethics.
I have full public liability insurance.
OK, I know I want to work with you. How do we get started?
It is so simple – just give me a call, drop me a text or email. I will want to speak to you on the phone first, and then we can book your free initial consultation. My numbers are 01622 297292 or 07957 573681
If I’m still not quite sure, is there a way for me to sample your work at low cost to see if it is the right solution for me?
Sure. By offering the free initial consultation you have plenty of opportunity to confirm that you want to work with me on your issue or goal.
In addition, I offer simple, shorter relaxation sessions at reduced rates too, which will give you an experience of hypnosis and the gentle healing power of hypnotherapy.
Although no intervention work is done in these sessions the benefits of relaxation are huge (think about it – relaxation is the opposite of stress and how many times do you hear that stress is bad for you?!)
What times are you available?
I am in the clinic Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 9am-7pm. Most of my appointments are during weekdays in office hours and, because you only need to see me a few times (and sometimes just once), this will be easy to arrange.
I do offer some evening and weekend appointments but these have limited availability.
Booking a weekday daytime appointment is the quickest way to see me.
How do I pay?
You will pay at each session by cash, credit/debit card or bank transfer or you can block book by purchasing one of our packages.
OK I’m ready to do this, but I just have a couple more questions. Can I call you?
Absolutely! My numbers are just below here
